While this simple idea turned two ex- “frat boys” into six-figure business owners, we made a CRUCIAL mistake that almost costed the business it’s life!
Early on, we were having our pickin’s at closing sales.
(there was one time I closed an $85K sale in my boxers)
Even though I didn’t realize it at the time, we had something that was “new” and “different.”
A service so unique that we were, quite literally,
THE WORLD’S FIRST GEOFILTER MARKETING AGENCY!
Yet even having “first movers advantage” can walk you into a chokehold if you’re not careful…
…and that’s exactly what happened to us 💀
Unfortunately, a lot of people in the IM space are blindly running into the SAME TRAP without realizing it.
An if that’s YOU… then you better find a way out before you’re sinking faster than a sumo wrestler in quicksand!
Here’s what you need to avoid:
THE MISTAKE THAT “BLIND” BUSINESS OWNERS MAKE (WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE)
Remember how I said my partner and I were closing sales without even breakin’ a sweat…?
Well, things were all-nice-and-dandy UNTIL something unexpected started to happen.
Snapchat… the app that we built our business off of… the “next Facebook”… the app so hot it’ burn your tongue right out of your mouth…
…started to SUCK 😭
Seriously!!! The numbers we had to deliver to our clients started to decline faster than a bootstrappers bank account.
And the WORST part?
We couldn’t do ANYTHING about it because we had NO CONTROL over the users… the platform… ANYTHING!
There were some campaigns we’d throw up a Geofilter and PRAY that it would get tons of views.
If you haven’t guessed by now,
that’s no way to run a business.
Controlling your lead flow… your sales process… and your sanity will make you rich…
Lose control and you lose, period.
🛑 My biz partner and I were livin’ the high life until we realize that we had built our entire business on the BACK of someone else’s business.
And unfortunately, that’s what a lot of “ClickFunnels” users are doing (without even realizing it).

While it can pay to specialize, keep in mind that…
1) ClickFunnels is a BRAND… not a strategy and ⠀
2) ClickFunnels is just a small part of the internet.
Make sure you don’t pigeonhole yourself into becoming just a “tag-along” to the cool kids party!
More importantly, and you’re actually taking what you’re learning and applying it to the broader scope of marketing, sales, persuasion, & business.
Learning how to craft offers that people call their credit card company just to buy? DOPE!
Go apply that OUTSIDE of the ClickFunnels space.
Have you finally figured out how to make ClickFunnels pages look nice AND convert?
Go teach the psychology of sales page design (NOT just “ClickFunnels pages”).
MORAL OF THE STORY:
If you’re branding and/or positioning your courses, programs, etc. as “ClickFunnels only”…
…you’re putting the death grip on your own business.
Learn from MY mistake and understand that leaving YOUR positioning, YOUR value, and YOUR assets up to another business is an advantage in the short-term and a BIG ol’ slap-in-the-face in the long-term… ⚠️
